It didn’t take long Friday morning for Columbia Police officers to track down the guy who tried to rob a Phillips Convenience Store on South Providence.
Julio Guzman left the store at about 5:00 a.m., without paying for his beer. Officers recognized his description from an earlier incident downtown, and found him at the intersection of Providence and Stewart.
Guzman threatened the clerk with a gun while he was leaving the store, so Officer Latisha Stroer says he has First Degree Robbery charges, instead of just shoplifting. He’s currently in the Boone County Jail.
