Just a day after Columbia Police announce a crackdown on shootings, a teen is shot just outside the city limits.
Boone County Detective Tom O’Sullivan says deputies responded to Santa Barbara Drive in the El Chaparral neighborhood at about 10:00 Friday morning. When they got there, they found an 18-year-old victim who was shot in the calf. The man said he was taking out the trash at the back of his house when someone shot at him twice with a handgun. He was taken to the hospital, and there’s no word yet on his condition.
O’Sullivan says there’s no shooting suspect in custody yet. He says the victim described the shooter as a light-skinned black male wearing dark clothing, and with hair in dreadlocks. Deputies ask anyone with information about the shooting to call CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS.
