CPD, eat your hearts out! Wake up Columbia was ready to make good on our Golf Tourney bet, not only washing a patrol car, but breaking out some talented assistants for the job. Since the cops were a “no show”, Cassie and Rachel from Truman’s Bar & Grill decided to wash Tom Bradley’s ManVan.

Honor Flight Call To Action was a HUGE success

On June 30th, KOMU, the Eagle and Clear 99 sponsored the Central Missouri Honor Flight Call To Action. From 6A to 11P we asked you to call to make a donation, and over $17,000 was raised!! This will help send over 50 WWII vets to visit their own memorial.

To date, Central Missouri Honor Flight has flown more than 520 WWII vets to Washington, D.C. In the last year, we’ve lost 13 of those vets. Your generosity will help us work quickly to finance flights to get the remaining vets to their memorial.

Thank you…from the Eagle, KOMU, and of course – the Veterans who will benefit from this honor.

Wingstock II a Winner. Beats last year’s total!

Despite being hampered by cool, rainy weather, WingStock II was a tasty success this past Saturday. Hundreds of patriots made it out to Mid-America Harley-Davdison to catch some live music and enjoy a dozen different wing recipes. All counted, the event raised another $6,700 for Central Missouri Honor Flight. That’s enough to send another 20+ WWII veterans to see their memorial in Washington D.C. Thanks to everyone who joined the effort, dreamed up and organized by Russ at Truman’s Bar & Grill.

Blaze Gets The Gobbler!

Congratulations to Blaze Vermillion, the sight-impaired hunter who ventured out with the Missouri Special Sportsmans Association and shot a turkey this past Saturday (5/1). Blaze visited Wake Up Columbia a week ago and described the accident that left her partially blinded. She’s a brave 19 year-old full of love and deserved a chance to experience a Springtime hunt in Missouri.

Mike DeShazo and his entourage had a great time guiding Blaze through her first successful turkey season. Special thanks to the gang for allowing Tom Bradley to trample out to the woods with them. Blaze and her 22-pound bird are shown here with (l-r) her dad Mike, sister Amber and mom Tammy.

All of us at The Eagle are excited about the upcoming elections on April 6th. But we know there’s room for discussion and debate before that day gets here. We’ve teamed up with the League of Women Voters and Stephens College to bring you an open forum for Mayoral Candidates, City Council Candidates, as well as the pros & cons on Proposition One (Downtown Cameras).

The event will be held in the Windsor Auditorium on the Stephens Campus begining at 6:30pm and is free and open to the public. Mike Ferguson will broadcast live from the venue and Tom Bradley will act as moderator. Questions for candidates can be submitted on-line here from The Eagle website’s home page.

Running For Robert was a tremendous success, bringing in an incredible amount.We raised $35,867.25 for HomesForOurTroops.org. We can’t begin to thank everyone enough for their energy and generosity.
