An employee of Columbia’s Steak and Shake on Clark Lane received a call from a man who said he was with the sheriff’s department. He said one of the store’s employees had been arrested and needed money to bond out of jail. The employee who received the call was also told that she had to send the money thru Western Union or money gram. The woman arranged for $800 to be sent using her credit card. This was a scam. No employee had been arrested, and the caller wasn’t with the sheriff’s department or any other law enforcement agency.
