A man who made threats with a handgun in Columbia, and jumped off a balcony to escape the cops, is now spending time in the Boone County Jail.
Police say 39-year-old Quincy Avant was heading to Argyle Drive Thursday night to pick up his girlfriend and child, and driving recklessly to do it. Someone told him to drive more carefully, and he pulled a gun on that victim.
Sergeant Joe Bernhard says that victim and another ran inside a house, as Avant continued to threaten them. He eventually headed to Columbia’s Red Roof Inn. Officers chased Avant as he jumped off the second-floor balcony, and caught up with him at the I-70 and Providence overpass. He’s charged with unlawful use of a weapon, and is in jail on a $15,000 bond.
