Your Columbia high school kid will encounter heightened security on campus today.
Superintendent Chris Belcher sent a letter to parents yesterday outlining rumors involving a planned violent act or shooting. He says there’s no indication those rumors are true, but that doesn’t mean they’re being taken lightly.
Belcher says Columbia’s high schools will be closed campuses today, with limited entry points and restrictions on who is allowed to leave the building. In addition, students will not be allowed to leave for an open lunch, and they’ll see a greater police presence at school.
