Columbia Schools Need New Board Member

If you want to serve on Columbia’s School Board, you’ll soon have a chance to apply for a seat. Board member Paul Cushing is resigning his spot to take a new job, effective October 1st. The board met Thursday to discuss how to fill the vacancy.

Michelle Baumstark with Columbia Public Schools says the application process will open next week, and close on October 12th. Then there will be in-person interviews for qualified candidates.

Baumstark says not everyone can apply. You have to meet the same qualifications as anyone who would run for the board in an election. She says the school board hopes to appoint its newest member on November 12th.
