Columbia junior high students can sign up for Chinese language classes, starting next fall. The district is bringing in three teachers from China to lead the courses, along with Columbia Public Schools instructors.
CPS will offer Chinese to seventh and eighth graders at Ann Hawkins Gentry Middle School, Jefferson Junior High School, Lange Middle School, Oakland Junior High School, Smithton Middle School, and West Junior High School.
The program is offered as part of a relationship with The Confucius Institute at the University of Missouri. It will not cost the district anything extra.
