Hallsvile Woman Arrested for Stealing Drugs from Centralia Senior Housing

They were waiting for her…and, with the help of a well-trained senior center resident in Centralia, a Hallsville woman is behind bars. 38 year old Theresa Bittle is accused of conning residents of Sunset Gardens apartments into allowing her in on the pretense of using the restroom with her child. Centralia Police and the victims say Bittle would open bathroom cabinets and take prescription drugs. This scam first surfaced around Thanksgiving. Several weeks ago, Centralia Police met with Sunset Garden residents and explained what they should do if Bittle returned. Last evening (Monday), Bittle knocked on a door of a Sunset Gardens apartment. The resident was trained to say she had the flu and wouldn’t let her in. The resident called Centralia Police and watched Bittle walk to another apartment. As Bittle was coming out, Centralia Police arrested her. Found on her were 3 bottles of stolen prescription drugs.
