Hidden Rooms Conceal Two Separate Pot Growing Operations

A couple of large marijuana growing operations aren’t growing so well now that they’ve been found in a northern Columbia subdivision.

450 pot plants are found in the homes of 39 year old Anthony Phillips and 34 year old Steve Maurer who live in the Vanderveen subdivision. 150 plants are found in the Mamba Drive home of Phillips. Columbia police and the MUSTANG drug task force found an elaborate lighting and ventilation system and a dedicated water filtration system. 300 plants are found in Mauer’s nearby home on Snow Leopard Drive…and police say the growing system was almost identical to the one found in Phillips’ home. Police say both pot growing operations weren’t initially evident…both were in rooms hidden by false walls. Police also say there’s a connection between the two investigations but they aren’t revealing the extent.
