A Howard County man is under arrest after allegedly stabbing his wife, and definitely causing a long standoff with the law. Jeff Leighton barricaded himself in a home near Highway 40 northwest of Rocheport starting last night. It took about six and a half hours, and some tear gas, but officers were finally able to arrest him. He’s accused of stabbing his wife, Wendi, a couple times in her stomach while she was in the shower. She is apparently in stable condition though. Jeff Leighton is also in the hospital, in fair condition.
