Income Tax Cut Supported by Chamber of Commerce

(MissouriNet) – Another try at cutting corporate income tax is headed for discussion by Missouri lawmakers. And now, the state Chamber of Commerce is backing those efforts.

Chamber lobbyist Tracy King says it’s important for Missouri to make these cuts because of what other states surrounding us did last year.

“Many people like to put this as a knee jerk response to Kansas, and what they did, and it’s not. There were actually 14 states that enacted broad-base tax relief in 2014,” says King.

Governor Nixon struck down a tax-cut bill last year, saying it would reduce funding for education.

King says the Chamber is working with the Governor’s staff to reach a compromise on the issue.
