State lawmakers want some clarification to a law that’s left thousands of minor driving infraction cases unresolved. The Senate gives initial approval to a bill that would reverse a law passed last year and make minor offenses a misdemeanor again. An infraction is punished with a fine but isn’t considered a crime. Last year’s change has caused confusion for prosecutors who say they’re not sure whether they can prosecute infraction cases. Lawmakers have to act before Sunday.
