Missouri Task Force 1 left early this morning to help the east coast in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. The team of about 80 volunteers, with about 100,000 pounds of equipment, plans to arrive in Herndon, Virginia by 5:00 p.m. today. The task force helps state and federal responders during emergencies anywhere in the country. It is based out of Boone County Fire Protection District Headquarters in Columbia.
