The Columbia Police Department is searching for two men who tried to rob Columbia’s Wingate Inn Motel early this morning.
The suspects entered the hotel on Wingate wearing masks and gloves, and one of them had a knife. A retired police officer happened to be in the lobby, took out his gun, and scared the two off before they could take anything. They ran away, last seen running south behind Candlewood Suites.
No one was injured in the incident. The Columbia Police investigation, and search for the suspects, continue.
