Myopic Left

On a recent program I opined that we should not force doctors and hospitals to treat people who can not afford to pay for their services. I suggested that we send those people to charity hospitals. That would reduce the cost of health care and make it affordable to many more Americans. A caller asked about someone with no identification and hurt too badly to answer questions, what would we do with him? My first thought is always carry ID. That is the responsible thing to do. Send them to the charity hospital if no one can help with the identification. Some doctors and hospitals would treat them on their own. Forcing anybody to work without pay is slavery. But, the big question is; “what would work best for the most people?” Lowering the cost of health care for millions and sending some to charity hospitals or driving up the cost of health care so that millions can’t afford it and placing doctors in the position of slaves?
