How would you like it if you got hired, and then most of your business shut-down just a few months later? Congressman Jason Smith was elected in June, and is already caught up in the budget debate.
He says just getting negotiations started is the biggest obstacle with the shutdown right now.
“People have to realize in government, you can’t get everything you want. Until people figure [out] that they have to work together to govern and move the country forward, we’re just going to continue to be in gridlock,” says Smith.
Smith says the shutdown in ’95 lead to four straight balanced budgets. He hopes to see a similar pay-off once negotiations are settled this time.
