Governor Nixon made a stop at Columbia’s Bass Pro Shop Wednesday morning, encouraging hunters to “Share the Harvest” this fall. Once again this year, they can take their deer to a processor, and donate the meat to area food banks and pantries. Nixon says the goal in 2012 is 10,000 donated deer to needy families.
Missouri hunters gave nearly 6,200 whole deer in 2011, or about 370,000 pounds of venison.
