No EEZ In Columbia

The Columbia City Council last night decided to dissolve the board for the Enhanced Enterprise Zone. EEZ’s give tax breaks to lure more businesses to an area. Some residents worry the “blight” designation that can go along with it could damage their property values.

The council also decided to put off a discussion about historic preservation for two weeks. That debate has flared up because of the proposed demolition of the Niedermeyer building in downtown Columbia.
