Overflow of Untreated Wastewater

Overflow in Columbia results in the release of more than 50-thousand gallons of untreated wastewater into a tributary to Little Bonne Femme Creek in the Columbia area.Boone County Regional Sewer District officials tell DNR that grease and rags blocked part of the sewer line causing untreated wastewater to overflow a manhole that serves Rock Bridge Estates. Investigators from the department’s Macon office have been sent to the Columbia scene to collect water samples.

The discharge of untreated or partially treated sewage from sanitary sewer collection systems is a significant threat to public health and the environment.
