Patrol Report on JC Fatality Accident

The Highway Patrol releases its report on an accident in which a Jefferson City police car struck and killed a pedestrian. The November accident on U.S. 50 involved 25-year-old officer Zachary Jenkins and 41-year-old Norman Carlock Jr., who was hit while walking across the highway.  the report says Officer Jenkins was called to investigate a report of a stalled vehicle in the westbound lanes of the highway and was driving 74 mph when he hit Carlock. The speed limit is 65 mph.  The report says if Jenkins had been moving slower Carlock likely would have been struck by the car’s side mirror.  Instead, he was hit by the left-front fender of the Ford Crown Vic—-and died a month later.
