Police: Gas Station Robbery Suspect Caught

STORY UPDATE-

The man accused of robbing a Shell gas station along with the clerk who was behind the counter is under arrest. Columbia Police say 31-year-old Mark Swickard is behind bars at the Boone County Jail in connection with the Saturday robbery.

Police say he was arrested Thursday morning. Swickard faces a number of charges in connection with the case.  Police say he robbed the Shell station with a butcher knife, and stole the clerk’s purse, along with the entire cash drawer.

ORIGINAL STORY-

Columbia Police are looking for a man who robbed a gas station. This happened Saturday in the 900 Block of I-70 Drive Southwest around 11:45am. Officers say a man entered the store with a butcher knife and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect then took off with the entire cash register drawer and the clerk’s purse. He ran westbound with an unknown amount of chase. The Missouri State Highway Patrol brought in a K-9 unit to search for the suspect. It was not successful.
