Missouri may have to find yet another new plan for executing death row inmates.
The only US supplier of Propofol says it won’t allow the drug to be used in lethal injections. It’s the same drug that caused the overdose death of pop star Michael Jackson.
Missouri and several other states have had to re-write their execution protocols due to national drug shortages. The show me state was set to be the first to use Propofol in a single-drug system for executions.
But the drug maker says Propofol is meant to be therapeutic, and using it to kill someone is against the drug’s medical uses.
