You may not notice a whole lot of difference, whether the federal government is open or closed. But Missouri Senator Roy Blunt says the problems with a shutdown would pop up at some point.
“This is not inconsequential, what happens to Veterans Hospitals and other things. We need to get the government open. I know it’s popular to say ‘this isn’t affecting me at all,’ eventually it will,” says Blunt.
Senator Blunt says on the Eagle’s Wake Up Columbia the shutdown is already hitting non-essential federal workers on furlough. You may have already noticed problems getting a passport, applying for social security, or checking on a farm loans for harvest.
