Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman calls it a “disturbing” case of animal abuse…dozens of starving animals found on a Mid-Missouri farm.
Members of the Humane Society of Missouri and investigators from the state Department of Agriculture served a search warrant Thursday morning on land just north of Vienna. Neighbors reported starving horses on the property, but it was much worse than that. Humane Society workers are removing malnourished horses, pigs, and even dogs from the farm. Investigators also found the remains of several cows, horses and pigs.
Charges against the landowners are pending.
