A real traffic jam Monday morning, after a truck full of strawberries crashes on northbound Highway 63. The accident occurred a little after 4:00 a.m.
“They had mentioned that a strong gust of wind blew them off on the right-hand shoulder,” Gail Blomenkamp with Boone County Fire says. Then they came back across the road and went to the median, overcorrected, and that’s when he laid it over.”
“Both of them refused treatment or transport to the hospital,” Blomenkamp adds.
It took nearly three hours to get one lane of northbound Highway 63 fully opened, and another hour to get them both going for traffic.
In a weird coincidence, that may not have been the only rollover accident involving food Monday morning. A semi crashed at the 143 mile marker of Interstate 70, closing the south outer road. An Eagle listener tells us that truck appeared to be carrying onions, but we haven’t been able to confirm that yet.
