Tea Party Pictures

Posted in PHOTOS by rnaik on 3/16/2009

On Thursday, March 12th, hundreds of Eagle listeners braved the cold temperatures and joined the Eagle 93.9 at Flat Branch Park in downtown Columbia for a Protest Tea Party – to let Washington know we are NOT supportive of stimulus spending.  Thanks to Kaldi’s Coffee, U.S. Rents It, all our listeners who attended, and all the guest speakers for helping with this inspiring event.

That’s like 100 people. Way to get 1/1000 of Columbia’s population out to support your cause. Looks more like a bad tailgate than a protest.

  2. Beth

Jeff – looks like you need a little help with your addition. Same problem Washington seems to have.

  3. Mary Glenn

Get a grip Jeff. These Tea Parties are happening all over the country.
Oh, there were close to 500 people at this one.

  4. jeff

Dosn’t look like 500 to me and even if it was there are roughly 100,000 people in Columbia (if you include students).

Not very impressive by any measure.

  5. Paul

I was there for the whole event and I would say there were at least 300 to 400 there. Not everyone stayed for the full 2 hours.

  6. Mary Glenn

Jeff, no one was trying to impress you. Go stick your head back into the hole.

  7. Concerned Cit

    People, please.

    Stop addressing him at all.
Commenting on him just gives him credence. Ignore him, please.

  8. jeff

You were trying to make a political statement with your numbers and you ended up outing yourselves as an irrelevant minority.

    Epic Fail!

  9. Concerned Cit

    And ignore him…

  10. jeff

    The truth hurts sometimes.

  11. Ken

I was there too, for a little bit ,and maybe if you counted the children that people brought, there was 300 people, but that would be stretching it like Bush with WMD’s. Face it, your Teabagging was for not!

  12. gnolan

It is a complete waste of time trying to make the Obamunists admit the truth. The truth is, you were all great! With only one week of notice, in excess of 600 people (an expert trained in crowd control gave me those numbers..(Tim Oliver))on a VERY cold work day you showed up! I would not be surprised if the two Obamunists reply to this (and every) post because they could get in the last word with an echo. But with each post they reveal their indefensible position concerning the bail outs. If they REALLY had a defense, they would call me on the air. They’re left with attacking you because they can’t defend the policies they support. Simply ignore them.. they are the musings and attacks of a desperate duo with no other way out but to attack you personally.

  13. Beth

Epic Slam! Thanks Gary for putting into words the thoughts that more and more of us every day are thinking.

  14. Mary Glenn

Thank you Gary. You’re right, they really aren’t worth the time it takes to respond to them.
My daughter and I were there (the two with the big red and white sign) and learned much. Thank you for sponsoring a very successful Tea Party.

  15. jeff

I never once defended the bailout. I’m just explaining that you guys outed yourselves as irrelevant politicly (you should be used to it Gary since you are a liberatarian).
You are using Tim Oliver as an expert! Wow! That guy is a right wing hack. I’m suprised he didn’t call it 1000 (if he had it would still only be 1/100th of the Columbia population). Did he count the homeless people sleeping in the park?
About the only thing TO is an expert on is choke holds.

  16. Gary Nolan

Like I said “last word with an echo!” roflmao!!

  17. louise

Jeff, you certainly are being a prick(ly) fellow about this whole tea party thing. Thanks for letting the politically irrelevant among us know that in addition to being a “right-wing hack”, Tim Oliver is an expert on choke holds. I’m glad to know my conceal-carry instructor is able to defend himself with his hands as well as his wits and sidearm. I’m hoping he covers that in the advanced defense class.

  18. jeff

Ask Steve Rios about TO’s choke holds. I hear he was a good student.

Like I said “irrelevant” roflmao!! I just think it’s cute to see you cons get all worked up about making a political statement only to fall flat on your faces.
No matter what crap T-bag Nolan tries to serve you, you are irrelevant and nobody paid attention to your tea party.

    Sorry but the truth hurts.

  19. Gary Nolan

I wonder how long I can keep you going! lol Echo..Echo! My God this is fun! You’re a hoot!

  20. Julie

Sorry guys, pic 20 is Colin Mallacher talking about the Fair Tax. The Tea Party was great! Thanks Gary, Tom and Eagle for hosting!

  21. Jake

Jesus you ACLU Fags are dumb! Gary and Tom were tea-bagged by at least 700 unshaven men. I know this because they hired me as a cameraman and my good friend Tim Oliver as choker/fluffer.

  22. Steve

Why is it that when anyone who believes in liberty and small government speaks out in anyway, they are compared to Nazi’s? Isn’t having liberty and freedom the exact opposite of Naziism? I guess it’s because they are politically uneducated.

  23. Kate

Gary…are you planning on another Tea Party anytime soon? Like on April 15th, maybe? I think it would be a great show of solidarity, many, many other cities will b doing this. I think Columbia should join in!

  24. Jesse

Looks like a bunch of angry people who ‘s candidates lost last round of local and national elections at a bad tail gate. P.S. Ed Robb is a real sum bag.

  25. Gary

They have a right to protest…but it is now time for Republicans to sit in the back of the bus for a while. Bush broke the world, and they know it. I doubt Obama can do any worse. The bar is set so low now. And yes, Ed Robb is a jerk. glad he lost.

  26. John

Gary (Mar 25, 12:37 a.m.), I would agree that Bush, while usually socially conservative, was not fiscally conservative and did not seem to be showing opposition to socialism. But, unless President Obama can reverse this stimulus package, Obama has already done worse than Bush. The answer is not having a person of a partiular party or sex or race or (select another category), but having a person with some common sense like Ronald Reagan.

  27. louise

Common sense is a good start but ultimately we need people in power who actually mean what they say when they swear to uphold and defend the Constitution. We’ve lost our way because our elected officials aren’t following that road map. GPS, perhaps?

  28. Mary Glenn

FYI, there’s going to be another Tea Party in Quincy, IL on April 4th. I’m not sure about any of the other details yet, but anyone from the Columbia area would be welcome to join. These Tea Party idea has taken over the country and they are being held in hundreds of cities. What a wonderful way to express our concerns…and they are many!

  29. Amy E.

Ignore Jeff and the others that feel we are irrelevant. Typical liberal b.s.–they have to throw their little tantrums and call names to feel like big men on the playground. How about an April 15th Tea Party? Any plans Gary N? The March 12th Tea Party was really invigorating. Let’s keep it up. Who wants to get together and plan if the Eagle is not planning one?

“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.” T. Jefferson

  30. Amy E.

Sorry, it appears Gerald Ford made that quote above in 1974 according to Bartlett’s. My mistake. Still, one of my favorite quotes. :)

  31. Jake

    Amy is quite the scholar.

  32. Jake

And Steve, what in the hell are you talking about? Who has told you that your beliefs are akin to National Socialism!? As far as I’m concerned, the only people who were like Nazis, were the Nazis…..

  33. Annie

So, when and where is the next 1?

  34. Pat

There will be one in Jeff City on the 15th but it sure would be great to have another one in Columbia. I couldn’t get off for the first one so I took a half day off this time around and if I have o I guess I will go there.

The Greatest Revolution of All Time

Many in society today are calling for “change” for “revolution” – something, anything other than what has been the status quo. Some activists are looking at a revival of the “Boston Tea Party.” While it is refreshing to see someone doing something, sadly, I believe a reference to the “revolution started by the Boston Tea Party” would only cause the cycle to continue, would probably end in a tremendous amount of bloodshed and loss of life, and the enemies of freedom would continue on.

During this time of a call for change, nothing is ever mentioned concerning the Greatest Revolution the world has ever seen. And, do you realize that during this Greatest Revolution of All Time, there was not one single shot fired? No muskets, no bows and arrows or swords, no AK-47s, no grenades, and no nukes.

Yet history records an event unlike anything we have ever seen – especially in our lifetimes. The Greatest Revolution of All Time occurred nearly 2,000 years ago – and before you jump to conclusions – let me assure you that it did not occur during the lifetime of the Lord Jesus Christ. Oh yes, He was the instigator of the Revolution – no doubt about that – but He had already been executed by the “state” before the Greatest Revolution of All Time had taken place.

Please take a few moments and read Acts 17. It is there you will find the story of the Greatest Revolution of All Time. Paul had been preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of Christ. The people’s response is summed up as follows:
5: But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.
    6: And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
7: Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.
8: And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

Today, the world is in great need of being “turned upside down.” Why not look to the example of the Greatest Revolution of All Time? We have followed man and his “CONstitutions, laws, and treaties” long enough. It’s time to a return to the message preached by the apostles – there is another King, One Jesus.

Yes, enough is enough. Following man and his ways leads to death. Let’s allow the reign of the King of kings and Lord of lords in our lives today and see how the supernatural intervention of God occurs – for we truly need Someone to fight the enemies of freedom for us. The battle CANNOT be won with guns – for they will always have bigger guns, more soldiers, more ammo – this battle can only be won by the Sword of the Spirit – and that Spirit IS ONLY given to those who obey Him.
