The Candidates Are A-Coming…..

Welcome to my blog!

Thank YOU for making our first week eventful and fun. We covered alot of ground last week, as we will this week.

Starting tomorrow (Tues, March 2), all six candidates for Mayor of Columbia will be on “The Mike Ferguson Show” to make their case to you and try to win your vote.

Here’s the schedule:

Tues, March 2 – Sean O’Day

Wed, March 3 – Sid Sullivan

Tues, March 9 – Paul Love

Wed, March 10 – Bob McDavid

Thurs, March 11 – Jerry Wade

Fri, March 12 – Sal Nuccio

    Here are some simple questions that I think can differentiate the candidates from one another:

    1. Smoking ban – necessary action to protect public health or over-regulation of business?
    2. Downtown surveillance cameras – should the city pay for them or should downtown businesses/associations pony up the costs to protect their area?
    3. Proposed eminent domain seizure of Bengal’s and related property for a new State Historical Society building – was this truly a use where eminent domain should have been on the table?
    4. Sasaki downtown plan – should such a study come about from the city and other partners (with its attendant eminent domain and TIF fallot) or should the free market determine how downtown should evolve?
