Hey, this is Adam’s father from Costa Rica. I listen for a few minutes in the morning occaisionally. Good show. Just FYI, at the school I teach at, the the mosque issue at ground zero was a “debate” item among the kids (high school) during a weekly assembly. Almost overwhelmingly the kids and a couple of teachers agreed the Muslim community had the right to build the mosque. I talked to a couple of teachers about it later and pointed out that just because you have the rigth to do something, doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do. The burning of the Qoran is a perfect example of this. I sent some of the other teachers a link to that story when it first broke a couple days ago, and they haven’t commented yet. Hopefully they are consistent in their position, I don’t know.
From talking to Adam and the few minutes I can listen, good show!

Tom,
This morning you pretended to be a good ol’ country boy attending a Claire McCaskill Town Hall Meeting. Loved the prayer part. I email Claire frequently and her responses are very close to “I know what is good for you. Trust me.” I cannot wait to replace her. She is supposed to REPRESENT us; not tell us what is good for us!
Thanks for a good laugh this AM!
Blessings,
Donna
Tom, I listen to you as much as I can while feeding our livestock in the mornings. Last night I received an e-mail video with a painting by Jon McNaughton called The Forgotten Man. You should take a look at this as one picture is worth a thousand words. This painting shows how many of us feel including you. You would be great using your language skills to repaint the picture for your listing audiences. The Link is TheForgottenMan-JonMcNaughton.WMV
Not sure about the Camery but i know the Prius does not use a “turn key” it uses a push button to start and stop the vehicle, perhaps the toyota software won’t let the car be shut off while certian parameters are being considered like vehicle speed or throttle position? Not sure but very possible
In regards to your discussion this morning about marriage. What happened to people fearing god? This country was based off of the bible and it clearly says that you are to be married to have sex. You have to have sex to have kids! I think that if you arent married there is no commentment and therefore you have no concequences for your actions if you are not faithful. If is too easy to just walk away if you arent married. Your kids will see this and learn it and then before you know it the world will be full of people just humping everyone and spreading disease, no one knowing who their father is, etc. A BIG MESS TO COME!

Regarding Obama’s birth certificate – you have to have one to get a passport. So did he not have to provide one to get a passport or if you work for the government are you immune from having to get a passport for traveling?
The Holocaust was a terrible, unforgivable crime against not only Jews, but humanity in general. Around the time of the Holocaust there was another tyrannt who slaughtered millions of people. His name was Josef Stalin.
My question is this: why do we not hear as much about Stalin’s atrocities as we do of Hitler’s?
I have heard the argument that Stalin’s atrocities were not against a specific group of people, as were Hitler’s. Stalin was killing Russians, including peasants, who stood in his way. Therefore, the unspoken implication goes, Stalin’s crimes are not as great. To which I say Baloney!!
Tom – Can you please let everyone know that WW Grainger Inc on Vandiver Dr has PLENTY of snow shovels, ice melt and various other winter weather product on hand for residents of Columbia and Mid Missouri.

there are at least 3 community gardens in the downtown area where the public can buy fresh produce and or fruit (during season, of course). lyons street, smith and fay, and one on ninth street.. there is also the root cellar which provides local and organic foods all year round.
Tammy got the news wrong this morning. She said that the “diversity intensive” course passed yesterday at the University is in response to the two recent, racially motivated incidents on campus.
The truth is that some people at the University were pushing for a “diversity intensive” course long before those incidents.
The “diversity courses” will be more about globalism and women and gender studies than they will be about race.
Tom, McCaskill’s not being able to keep current her obligations is in direct correlation with her attidude towards her elected resposibility. Our country is debt ridden and we keep spending. How can we expect any different attitude towards her job than whaat she practices in her personal life!!!!!
Tom, Coach Cosmo:
I really don’t want to raise this question, but it is important. Perhaps it is a non-issue but, for a moment take a look at the make up of the Athletic Department, the color. First, I think Mike Alden was too quick to withdraw the offer to Anderson to stay at Mizzou and, second, even quicker to go to Matt Painter with an offer that is very similar to the one Arkansas offered Anderson. I think Anderson really moved Mizzou forward to national recognition and now he will be doing that at Arkansas.
THAT being said: I started looking at pictures on the Athletic Department’s website. I counted 51 Caucasians and 6 people of different ethinicity — all seemingly of African American descent. Anderson was the ONLY HEAD COACH at Mizzou of any color other than white. (By the way, I’m white, or caucasian).
We get terribly upset over Cottonballs strewn in front of the Black Culture Center; over foul language – graffitti on a sculpture. What about taking a look at the make up of the staff in the Athletic Department and on this campus.
I am NOT calling anyone a racist or raising the “race card.” But this is a question, in my opinion, that should be looked at seriously.
Thank you.
If you look at foxnews.com, there is a headline reading that Osama Bin laden killed, buried at sea….. I haven’t read the entire article yet, but you have to question why they would bury him at sea….. unless they don’t want anyone getting their hands on the body and then the question becomes why? I just wanted to bring this to your attention, maybe you already know this.
I am not going to believe anything coming out of this administration…..
I wonder if OBL ordered the “pulling” of building 7 on 9/11…?
I question everything our government puts out. I have a problem with blaming OBL solely for 9/11.
Buried at sea…….. seriously, how convenient!
I work in a law enforcement setting and I was always told that if you aren’t being complained about, you must not be doing your job. Columbia seems to be letting the people run the city and so the pros are running it in their favor and that’s why Columbia has so many problems.

I don’t know why our connection was eratic but here is what I wanted to address. The coal process being described is called “coal gasification”. The German supported their war effort during WWll using this process. The CEO of Jet Blue tried to get congress interested in this (according to an interview on your station several years ago)t was told they could do nothing because it was not new technology. There is one plant in MT using this process and the Gov. of Montana is willing to come on programs to talk about it, or was at the time of the interview. Jesse
Tom, I’m a “casual ” listener tuning in from time to time. I find that your thoughts are usually well reasoned and expressed. Knowing that about you, I would ask you to read something that might change your recently stated opinion that people ought to marry whoever they want; same sex, multiple partners, etc. The following link is for a Word document that offers common sense, historical and logical arguments for preserving “traditional” marriage.

Tom – I am deeply disappointed about the way you are treating the Peter Kinder report. You may feel it is hysterical to go on and on about hypothetical situations in which the two individuals may be in, but it seems very degrading to your program. I would appreciate your reporting on the incident and treating the man’s office with respect. Mr. Kinder did do wrong…you reported on it…you can even provide your support or lack thereof about it on the airways, but to degrade the man while he is in office degrades the office as well. And to me, a poor reflection of the character I thought you had.
Hi Tom,
I’m a local pastor here in COMO of a more moderate slant. I studied Hebrew and did my Master’s work with an emphasis on Hebrew literature. It was difficult to keep my car on the road as I listened to caller after caller advocate for a young earth. Genesis was never intended to be a science text. It is a Narrative intended to tell a story. To use Genesis to calculate the age of the earth, the length of time for God to create, or even to try and determine what animals interacted with humans is to distort the intent of the story.
The theory about a gap between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 is without merit and utterly nonsensical. The theory has been disputed for decades.
Fundamentalists tie a belief in a literal six-day creation and young earth to one’s belief in the value of the Bible and in the Christian message altogether. It’s a tragic example of flawed reasoning that causes many people to mistakenly believe that they must take anti-scientific view of life instead of seeing science and faith as complimentary companions.
I am a Christian, a student of scripture, a pastor, and a lover of science.I do not believe the earth is 6,000 years old. I think Perry, Palin, and Bachman desperately need to stick to politics and leave theology alone.
No problem with the hot sauce treatment. This caused no bodily harm, and every other punishment didn’t work. Bottom line…..the kid is the one who made the bad decision over and over knowing the consiquence. Thumbs up to the mom and dad. The child needs to learned about desicion making and the results from making the wrong ones. These kids are out of hand completely!
Topic of discussion,
Root n Blues & BBQ… I have 2 complaints, one being tickets sales are $30 for a 1 day pass… unless you live in low income city housing; if you live in section 8 / low income housing, you can get in for free. The second being my spouse and I would love to go as a family however he has to work every year because the city needs as many police officers as possible to keep the peace at the event. So let’s (City of Como) pay our police officers mandatory overtime to keep the peace but give away tickets to the low income trouble makers to enjoy the festival for free. Seems like a catch 22, I’m not saying that all low incoming housing attendees are the “trouble makers” however statically our police officers do spend a majority of their time there.
Tom,
I would like to invite you and your morning crew to the CMU band day Saturday October 1st. The award winning Fayette Falcon Pride Marching Band will be competing in street marching in the morning and field marching in the afternoon. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Kim
Its funny that when Herman Cain was accused every major news network INCLUDING FOX was reporting but the only place this Obama news is found on conservativeblog, conservativetalk, and gop.org Funny ain’t it
Tom – I enjoy listening to your show in the morning as I head into work. Here’s a topic for you. Although tough times can fall on anyone and unemployment $$ can help someone stay on their feet and “weather the storm”, but what about drug testing (either mandatory or randomly) persons who are drawing unemployment over an extended period of time and cutting their benefits if they test positive?
Food for thought
